Kenyans will now dig deeper into their pockets for fuel after a recent adjustment on excise duty by the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

The adjustment will see super petrol price rising by Sh1.12 to Sh106.55 in Nairobi after while diesel and kerosene prices both rise by Sh0.58.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) in an announcement on Friday indicated that the changes in fuel prices will be effective Friday, October 3 to December 14, 2020.

"Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has adjusted upwards the Excise Duty on Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene after taking into account the average inflation rate of 4.94% for the financial year 2019/2020," the EPRA announcement reads in part.

it is the second time EPRA has announced an upward change in fuel prices since September with the earlier rise being attributed to higher cost of imported Super Petrol increasing by 2.65 per cent from USD 319.23 per cubic metre in July to USD327.69 per cubic metre in August.
