Company CEO Eric Zurrin while issuing exploration updates for January and February revealed that Shant Gold had hit very high-grade intersections.

The company has since set up two drill rigs in the region and expects to add a third one soon, to expedite exploration.

Shanta Gold acquired seven gold prospecting licenses from Barrick Gold in 2020.

"Infill drilling of five diamond core holes at Isulu and two others at Bushangala amount to four percent of the planned exploration,"  Zurrin stated.

Diamond drilling in gold exploration refers to the process of "impregnanting" a drill bit with industrial diamonds so as to break the bearing rock.

Zurrin revealed that the company has as a result drilled 1,538 metres of holes.

1,136 metres of the holes have been drilled at Isulu while 402 metres have been drilled at Bushangala.

"It is encouraging that high-grade intersections have been hit in early holes and the company is looking forward to ramping up exploration over the coming months," Zurrin stated.

The company has since projected to complete 40 percent of the exploration by the end of the year.
