TECNO, a premium smartphone brand, is reportedly set to roll out the CAMON 17 Pro. The phone is the clearest selfie phone in the industry by far.

The breakthrough in its brilliant photography performance cements TECNO’s place as a leading camera phone brand.

The upcoming CAMON 17 Pro boasts a sleek design with advanced technology, making it a custom fit as a tool of expression for both the young and the elderly.

It’s still a 720p+ class display (though with a 20:9 aspect ratio). The selfie camera (still living in a punch hole) has an 8MP sensor.

The phone will give the selfie era a run for its money. For the first time in mobile launch event history, TECNO presents a new product launch event that will showcase the phone and also go deeper into why the selfie is so central to our perception of ourselves and by extension, the world around us in a compelling documentary, titled, “Rise of the Selfie”.

TECNO’s move to develop the CAMON 17 Pro was necessitated by the demands of a selfie generation in the post-pandemic era.

According to Counterpoint Research, a well-regarded research organization in April 2021, consumer behavior and smartphone usage scenarios changed drastically due to the social-distancing policies put in place to combat COVID-19. This led to a selfie demand, to share life snippets with friends at home in quarantine and in social media.

Foreseeing this social trend, TECNO decided to upgrade the selfie innovations in its CAMON series and to unfold its CAMON 17 Pro soon.

As our world gets more and more intertwined with technology, products, innovations, and social changes, the CAMON 17 Pro cannot be simply released in isolation.

TECNO will explore the history, rise, and story behind the selfie in a documentary during the launch event, tracing the selfie phenomenon and its impact on smartphone users today.

The innovative launch event will reflect on the rising brand horizon exerting more effort on industrial, social, and humanistic care as well. As a rising global brand, TECNO is showing the maturity of contributing to the global conversation through the commission of the documentary, something that is commonly seen amongst product launches.

TECNO’s deep insights into the social culture behind selfie was echoed by Hollywood A-list actor and TECNO brand ambassador Chris Evans.

Being a global celebrity, Evans is accustomed to requests for selfies. A selfie might seem like ‘just another photo’ however, it can be used to document evidence and achievements, milestones such as brushing shoulders with celebrities or the ‘perfect life’.

The “Avengers” star reiterates that the selfie ‘is a particularly important medium to help people understand perspectives and experiences.’

The social phenomenon of selfies has been gaining serious momentum in recent years, becoming an integral part of how people express themselves.

The documentary outlines how we can look at the future. Selfies will be an important medium of self-expression, as gleaned from how the young ‘digital native’ generation, not just for individuals but also groups, whether online or in person.

The CAMON 17 Pro is the first phone to put this behavior into focus as today, users associate selfies with their identity, making phone manufacturers such as TECNO sit up and take note.

Just as the selfie is a natural extension of individual expression, the mobile phone camera becomes the technology through which we express ourselves. Mobile photo imaging has been a key selling point for a product, however, its popularity is mainly because it touches the human spirit and social need.
