The Isuzu Electro-Deposition Paint Plant project will cost Ksh 500 million.

President William Ruto has launched the Ksh 500 million Isuzu Electro-Deposition (ED) Paint Plant project.

Speaking on Wednesday, June 7 at the Isuzu East Africa head office in Nairobi, President Ruto termed the project historic saying it will bring advanced technology to Kenya’s manufacturing scene.

“The decision to incorporate the state-of-the-art processes to enhance the standard of local vehicle production into world-class standards is a highly encouraging demonstration of intent by Isuzu to endow the Kenya manufacturing scene with advanced technologies and enable it to attain excellence,” said Ruto.

The Head of State added,"In total, Isuzu EA has invested KSh 1.3 billion within the last 4 years in the expansion and upgrade, sending a clear and bold signal of its confidence in Kenya as an investment destination. I would like to believe that this is a positive response to the policy measures we have undertaken to provide incentives for investors to bring or increase their investments in the country."

The ED Paint project is an upgrade of Isuzu’s current manual primer painting operations.

The ED coating method will use electrical current when painting. It is applied through the paint emulsion forcing the positively charged pigment and resin to be deposited evenly on the negatively charged cabin surface.

Advantages of ED paint projects include; excellent coverage of complex configurations with recessed areas, internal coverage for parts with crevices, controllable consistent film build, uniform film thickness, and superior paint finish quality.

Other advantages are; benchmark corrosion protection and chip protection, nearly 100% paint utilization and environmentally friendly, superior in anti-pollution, safety, and health hazards.
