The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has introduced TukTuk Services at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). 

According to a statement released by KAA, they have been introduced under Hala Nairobi Airport Services.

The introduction of the tricycle has been termed Airport Mtaani, an innovative luggage collection and coordination service at JKIA. 

Hala Nairobi Airport Services will manage unaccompanied luggage at JKIA in collaboration with contracted ground handlers and airlines. This initiative underscores KAA's commitment to enhancing passenger experience and elevating airport services.

"This pioneering service aims to revolutionize luggage handling, offering travellers unparalleled convenience and efficiency," KAA stated.

Speaking during its launch, KAA Board Chairman Caleb Kositany lauded the initiative noting that it is key to tracking and delivery of luggage.

 "Gone are the days of having to go through security screening just to check on your baggage. This streamlined process saves time for passengers upon arrival," noted Kositany.

"Airport Mtaani is collaborating closely with all airlines to ensure comprehensive information is available for luggage inquiries. This means passengers can quickly ascertain the status of their luggage without unnecessary delays," he added.

The introduction is also due to the rising volume of travellers' luggage which JKIA is keen to match by timely delivery of services.

Its introduction is also touted to address the issue of luggage disappearance at the international airport.
