President William Ruto has congratulated four university students who won Sh120 Million for their business innovation. 

The four students, who are from St Paul’s University, are Lennox Omondi, Keylie Muthoni, Dullah Shiltone, and Brian Ndung’u.

The four have a start-up called Eco-bana limited which makes biodegradable sanitary pads using banana fibre.

Eco-bana limited won the global finals of the 2022 Hult Prize for their innovation on Tuesday evening.

In a statement on Wednesday, September 21, Ruto congratulated the four for their win adding that it was the hustler nation spirit they sought to support. 

"Congratulations to Eco-Bana, a Kenyan social venture started by four university students, that has just won the prestigious Hult Prize and a cash award of 1 million dollars. The prize is awarded to entrepreneurs who strive to tackle pressing global issues through innovation.

"The firm makes hygienic sanitary pads from banana fibres. This is the Hustler Spirit that we are keen to support," Ruto stated.
