Maina Kageni Reveals His Voice Is Insured For 100 Million

Media personality Maina Kageni revealed he insured his voice for Ksh100 million during his show with Mwalimu King'ang'i.

Maina caught King'ang'i by surprise when he made the revelation on Classic FM's breakfast show.

"You haven't insured yours? Mine is insured for Ksh100 million," Kageni said while laughing at King'ang'is jokes on the show.

The radio personality has been on the air for over two decades and his voice is one thing he attributed to his longevity in the media industry.

His voice is very distinctive and most up and coming personalities have been accused of coping with Maina's style and voice of engaging with the public.

Two weeks ago Kageni addressed rumours that he might be eyeing a political seat. He, however, announced that he has absolutely no interest in joining politics.

Speaking on the Bonga na Jalas show, Maina noted that one needs to be a political party subject to survive in the Kenyan political scene.

He further noted that unless you are an independent candidate, when you venture into politics, your ability to think independently is taken away, since you conform to your party’s ideology.

Maina also held the view that politics is an expensive affair, adding that it is one of the “fastest ways to go broke”.

“Politics is the fastest way to grow broke. The fact in Kenya is, you need to be on a big party ticket; which limits your thinking because your thinking must follow that of whoever is the party leader. You can never be Jalang’o the thinker in a big party,” he said.

He made reference to former journalist Mohammed Ali and former comedian John Kiarie who he says have failed to live up to expectations after being elected into Parliament.

“Look at Moha… Jicho pevu we hired that fiery guy to make noise in Parliament…Our friend KJ, but again he had to conform,” he divulged.
