In a statement Omanga said on Monday that she will pay Otwoma’s school fees and ensure he secures a good school as he begins his secondary education.

Otwoma who hails from Dandora slum in Nairobi scored 416 marks in the 2020 KCPE examination.

“Otwoma Raydon Kangu is a kid from Dandora slums. He did his KCPE and scored 416 marks. His case—among many others—has been brought to my attention. I've there4 taken up his case & will ensure he secures his admission. I'll cater for his school fees and other needs,” said Mama Miradi.

This comes a few days after she offered to pay school fees for another KCPE candidate Diana Nyokabi who scored 401 marks but could raise secondary school fees.

Nyokabi had resorted to repeat class eight.

“I want to support this girl through her secondary education. Anyone kindly DM her contacts as soon as possible,” said Senator Omanga.

These are just some of the few cases that have been reported of KCPE candidates not being able to raise school fees for secondary, despite performing well.

A few days ago, Education CS Prof. George Magoha directed all school heads to reduce school fees because this term would be short compared to other terms.

According to Magoha, National schools will pay Sh8,500 less while Extra-County and County schools will pay Sh5,500 less bringing the fee to Sh45,054 for National schools and Extra County and County schools Sh35,035.
