Murang’a County Woman Rep Sabina Chege was on Saturday caught off-guard as her family, friends and colleagues from the National Assembly threw her a surprise birthday party as she turned 49 years.

The surprise party was attended by among others; Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, MPs; Jude Njomo, Kanini Kega, Naisula Lesuuda, and Mishra Swarup.


Minister of Gender and Public Service Chief Administrative Secretaries; Rachael Shebesh and Beatrice Elachi were along in attendance.

The surprise party was headlined by Mugithi musician Samidoh backed by a live band.


From photos shared online, the surprise party was a fun-filled event as the team could be seen dancing and enjoying the Mugithi music.

Speaking after the event, Chege thanked the organisers for surprising her, adding that her heart skipped when she walked into the venue and heard everyone screaming “Surprise”.


"My heart skipped a few beats when everyone shouted: “Surprise!” I think I could literally feel it skip! I can’t believe you made all that effort to throw me a surprise birthday party. It must have been a ton of work and I can never thank you enough. Please know that I am grateful beyond words,” she said.

 She further noted that all gifts presented to her during the party will go towards the construction of a dormitory at Bishop Gatimu Kinyona Girls School.


“All my birthday gifts will go to Bishop Gatimu Kinyona Girls, who urgently need a dormitory, it will cost me around 15Million to have a fully operational one, you can be part of this amazing drive, DM for more details,” she added.
