Reacting to the story, Kuria noted that he did not share details of his illness for the media to make fun of it.

According to him, the sole purpose of sharing his story was to enlighten Kenyans against using “unapproved devices.”

“Dear @ntvkenya , the reason I spoke out was to warn the public on the dangers of using products and devices not approved by KEBS and/or Pharmacies & Poisons Board. It was not to provide fodder to your comedy shows much as I understand your content dry spell,” he tweeted.

On Thursday, Kuria while speaking to Citizen TV said he was hospitalized after suffering severe burn from an electric mat he was using to warm his feet.

“…Because of travelling getting numb and tired, this guy managed to convince me to use a gadget which to the best of my opinion was authorized…This gadget happened to do a slow burning of my feet, I was trying to cure a problem by introducing a killer solution…

“I went home at night and my feet just exploded. I came here the following day, they said I had third-degree burns," he said.
