The National Assembly Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi was on Sunday involved in a grisly road crash in which a boda boda rider was confirmed dead.

Media reports indicated Cheboi was involved in the head-on coalition at Kamara area on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Sunday afternoon.

Witnesses told the media that Cheboi’s car collided head-on with an oncoming motorbike.

Numerous photos from the scene were shared online showing the Deputy Speaker’s Mercedes Benz badly damaged on the driver’s side.

The Kuresoi North MP was travelling from Mau Summit towards Molo town when the accident occurred at around 3 pm.

The Nakuru County police boss Tito Kilonzi who confirmed the details said the rider died on the spot while the MP was taken to hospital for treatment.

"The MP sustained minor bruises but has been rushed to Nairobi for check-ups due to the impact," stated Kilonzi.

It is not yet clear whether the MP was driving himself or if he had more occupants in the car that was extensively damaged.

His vehicle was towed to Molo police station.
