DJ Smiles disclosed that he bought the peace of land in 2020 and started construction almost immediately, also noting that he had to keep it a secret from his wife. 

Inooro TV presenter Boniface Wanjohi, alias DJ Smiles has sparked reactions on social media after gifting his wife, Ivy Caroline Nyambura a KSh 10 million hotel to mark Valentine's Day. 

Speaking on Itugi TV, the presenter showed the multi-million property which is still under construction, noting that it has taken a lot of sacrifices to bring up the building.  

DJ Smiles disclosed that he bought the peace of land in 2020 and started construction almost immediately, also noting that he had to keep it a secret from his wife. 

He noted that he would occasionally borrow money from his wife to run his day-to-day activities in order to channel more funds to the project. 

"I used Ksh1.2 million to purchase the piece of land. Currently, I have used around Ksh10 million in order to erect the building. These funds have come from savings and gigs that I get from time to time" he said.  

When completed, the building will host a restaurant, a nightclub and offer accommodation services. 

DJ Smiles is among media personalities who go out of their ways to surprise their partners.

In 2021, former KBC radio presenter Bonnie Musambi threw a lavish birthday party for his wife, Betty Musambi, and gifted her a brand new Mercedes Benz and a KSh 1 million cheque as her birthday gift. 

"I love her so much, na sijuangi ni nini naweza buy for her so nimechanganyikiwa. I ordered something for her but unfortunately nimeambiwa inafika end of August

"I have ordered something very small, a Mercedes Benz E250 and until that comes let her enjoy herself with a cheque of one million shillings," he said. 

In 2020, Bonnie gifted his wife an iPhone 11 Pro Max and a KSh 1 million cheque.
