A good voice is a very powerful tool as it can appeal to someone even if they have not seen you. This is what happens in commercials, where the client gets a good voice over artist to advertise their brand.

In this article, we outline prominent personalities behind some of the most trendy Kenyan commercials

Peter Kyalo

In 2013, Jamii Telkom took the country by storm thanks to its Faiba animated commercial. Unlike usual ads, the Faiba commercial had an animated character coupled with a unique voice. The man behind the voice was Peter Kyalo.

"I undertook the Faiba commercial in partnership with Fatboy Animation. My role was doing the voiceovers and scripting, and our studio Fullhouse Music developed and produced the audio content. The animation was done by Michael Muthiga of Fatboy Animation," he was quoted.

The commercial earned him the nickname Faiba guy. Apart from the Faiba commercial, he has also voiced projects for Hope FM.

David Wartnaby

Despite not being from Kenya, David's voice is very popular on the Kenyan airwaves as he has worked with several renowned brands such as Safaricom, Nakumatt, and Classic FM among others.

One of his popular projects in Kenya is the Classic 105 catchphrase; " Classic 105 Good Times and Great hits."

Robert Randall

The Maseno High School alumni is another dominant force in the voice over industry. He has worked with several brands such as Duracoat, Barclays, and Nokia among others.

For those who love radio, it is highly unlikely that you'd listen for a couple of hours before hearing Randall's voice in a commercial.

While he has a huge catalogue, one of his latest projects is the Visa Chip and Pin where he says: "The new visa chip and pin card gives you increased protection against fraud so you shop, fuel and do so much more with confidence, Visa, everywhere you want to be."

Jeniffer Kanari

If you are a Safaricom customer, then you must have come across this automatic answering message "The person you’re calling cannot be reached, if you wish to leave a voice message, then please do so after the tone."

Jeniffer Kanari is the lady behind the voice. She did the project in 2009.

Apart from Safaricom, she has worked with other clients such as Kenya Power where she's the voice that welcomes you to Kenya Power Stima plaza.

Arabron Osanya

He is popularly known for his acting career where he's featured in shows such as Citizen TV's Mother-in-Law series where he played the role of Jack Mwamba.
