As one drives or takes a ride along the streets of Kenya's largest urban centres, you are likely to come across the name "Lloyd Masika" on buildings. It is among the largest real estate companies in the country.

The firm has constructed and operates a number of prime properties in the country. And behind its success, is Kenyan billionaire David Masika.

The company's website reveals that it was founded in 1979 following a joint partnership between its two directors, John Lloyd and David Masika. It was first established as a valuation firm.

Masika is the founding partner and acts as the company's chairman while Lloyd plays roles in the background as a consultant for the firm following his retirement.

He graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in Land Economics. He is a licenced valuer and boasts vast experience in real estate.

Masika began his career as a valuer at Tysons Habenga Limited in 1974 and was promoted to the role of director in 1978.

He left Tyson in 1979 to form Lloyd Masika Limited where has served for over four decades.

Throughout the course of his illustrious career, Masika has held positions on boards of parastatals.

They include; Managing Trustee of National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Managing Director Tana & Athi Rivers Development Authority (TARDA), Chairman of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), National Bank of Kenya (NBK), and as the Chairman of the Board of Kenya Meat Commission (KMC).

He is the Chairman of Cheshire Disability Services (Kenya) and a Board Member of K-Rep Bank, Nairobi Hospital and Pioneer Holdings Limited.

In 2017, he announced his debut into politics where he declared interest in the Makueni Gubernatorial seat as a member of Wiper Party.

He claimed that he had been rigged out of the nominations in favour of incumbent Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana and left to form his own party.

Lloyd Masika owns some of the most luxurious properties in the country, and in over 40 years of operation, the company is a mainstay in Kenya's real estate industry.

Some of the property listings handled by Lloyd Masika include Telposta Towers, Crossroad Mall, Sarit Centre, The Mall, Corner House, Stanbank house, Parklands Plaza, Galana plaza, Barclays Plaza, among others.

The Norfolk towers in Nairobi are also under the management of Lloyd Masika real estate firm.

The firm also lets; Nanu Apartments off Chaka Road, Longonot Apartments, Norfolk Towers, Arboville Apartments, Nabro Apartments, Duncan Court, Opal Court off State House Road, and Stands Apartments, Dennis print Road.

At the moment, Lloyd Masika boasts of a property portfolio comprising over 1 million sq. ft. of commercial space and over 800 residential units.
