When you mention the name Olago Aluoch, a couple of things come to mind; the MP from Kisumu West, veteran lawyer, and the politician who went against the wave to defeat an ODM candidate in Kisumu during the last election.
In addition to being an established politician and lawyer, Olago is also a businessman. He belongs to an exclusive club of Kenyans who own islands in the country.

Olago owns an island within Lake Victoria dubbed Maboko Island alias Camp Tom. The island occupies 5 acres of land and is estimated to be worth over Sh500 million.
Situated in Seme area, one hour from Kisumu town, the island can be accessed via air or through the lake. It has a helipad to cater for those travelling on air and power boats for those using the lake.

At the island, the MP has set up a state-of-the-art resort and nice suites to accommodate guests as they vacation.
The resort offers a nice space to forget about city life. While at the resort, you get a nice view of the Lake Victoria sunrise, and sunset.
Islands are mostly associated with the Coast, but this is in the Western part of the country, providing an alternative for Kenyans and other tourists interested in an Island away from the Coast, which is at times overpopulated especially during holidays.

Apart from Olago, other persons who own Islands in Kenya include; Alessandro Torriani who owns Funzi Islands, Carol Otieno who owns Kigamboni Island located South of Mombasa, and Hassan Shapi who owns Kinazini Island.
