This article looks at 7 top politicians who’ve survived nasty crashes in the country:

Raphael Tuju

The Jubilee Party Secretary-General survived a plane crash in 2003 at Busia. Together with other leaders, they were attending a homecoming celebration for former vice president Moody Awori after their massive victory in the 2002 General Election.

Martha Karua

The Narc-Kenya leader was on the same plane as Tuju and was among the survivors. She sustained injuries and had to be hospitalized for quite some time before fully recuperating.

Governor Samuel Tunai

In October 2020, Narok Governor Samuel Tunai dodged death narrowly after the plane he was flying in crash-landed shortly after take-off. He together with the three passengers aboard the plane survived.

Senator George Khaniri

The Vihiga County Senator was among survivors of the 2003 Busia plane crash. At that time, he was the lawmaker for Hamisi Constituency.

Lina Jebii Kilimo

The Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) escaped death during the same Busia 2003 crash, she was then Assistant Minister in charge of Home Affairs.

Robinson Githae

The former Assistant Minister in charge of Constitutional affairs was also among the survivors of the Busia crash.
