According to Muthama, the DP and his team have decided to adopt and ‘Ujamaa Strategy’ where they’ll be visiting village to village ahead of the 2022 polls.

Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has lifted the lid on the political strategy Deputy President William Ruto is using to solidify his support base ahead of 2022.

Speaking to Nation, Muthama noted that the DP and his team have decided to adopt and ‘Ujamaa Strategy’ where they’ll be visiting village to village ahead of the 2022 polls.

He noted that the strategy worked in Msambweni and they intend to spread it across the entire country.

“From the Msambweni by-election, we have realised that everyone should be involved in campaign, we are going the way of Tanzania’s Chama Cha Mapinduzi, where campaign committees begin from the village,” he said.

His point was echoed by former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar who believes that power lies in the hand of the people.

“Therefore, after Msambweni, we will continue engaging people with humility and respect,” he said.

On his part, Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Baraza noted that they have several strategies and will change them depending on the situation and the audience being targeted.

“We change depending on the audience and our target group. Our patron the DP built ODM from scratch and he understands the cost of relying on one strategy for a century. ODM’s strategy, which they have perfected for years is of bravado, chest thumping, vitendawili and creating contests where they should be none can only thrive in an area where we have ignorant people,” he said.
