President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to announce new COVID-19 measures during his address to the nation.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to address the nation later today on new measures regarding the corona virus pandemic that is slowly fading away.

The virus spread in the country has reduced with key sector of the economy being slowly reopened.

Unlike before, politicians have started traversing the country thus attracting large crowds, an indication that public gathering is not an issue anymore.

Restaurants and other key sectors of the economy including transport sector have also been reopened.

With this is mind, Kenyans are expecting that President Uhuru Kenyatta will issue new directives on the following measures previously put by the government:

Lifting of 9pm to 4am curfew

A section of Kenyans online are hopeful that the President will announce the end of the 9pm to 5am curfew that has been on for several months now. Some of the sectors affected by this include transport where night travel is no longer happening.

Re-opening of schools

As the Head of State, Kenyans are expecting the president to issue an official announcement on the exact school opening date since teachers have already reported back to work.


Re-opening of bars

Towards the end of July, the president banned the sale of alcohol in the country, and many are hopeful that he will issue an announcement on the re-opening protocol for bars.

Announcement on music concerts and public gatherings

Artists are hopeful that today’s announcement will have a return to work formula for them since politicians are already having public events attended by thousands of people. Concerts were banned in March after the first corona cases were confirmed in the country.

Economic stimulus to kick-start the economy

Many Kenyans are hoping that the economic stimulus package announced by the president sometime back including reduction of PAYE and other taxes will remain in effect until such a time when things resume back to normal.
