Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has opined that the letter by Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata that was leaked could be a blessing for the BBI movement.

Speaking on Tuesday, January 5 2021, Mutua said Kang'ata should be thanked for speaking on issues that other people have been afraid to address.

"Senator Irungu Kang'ata you have switched off your phone please call me when you get this message. I want to buy you drink, tea and mandazi because you are a hero who has saved BBI," Mutua said.

According to Mutua, Kang'ata's letter saved the BBI as it brought out governors from the area to address his claims and brought the attention of leaders to the issue at hand.

Uhuru's Handwork

The Machakos Senator also speculated if the letter was is the work of President Uhuru Kenyatta who is attempting to shake the political current.

"I am also wondering, could this be a master political game initiated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to give him a good reason to rejig a few things? Well, it is a technique I have seen used effectively. Time will tell," the governor said.

"The letter also raises a few questions. For example, based on my previous experience working closely for President Kibaki, I am asking myself, is there a communication breakdown in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political organization? Who are the gatekeepers to the President?" he added.
