The Ministry of Education has banned journalists from covering schools as learners resume classes this week.

Education Chief Administrative Secretary Zac Kinuthia said journalists seeking to cover schools must seek clearance from the Ministry Of Education.

Speaking in Mombasa, Kinuthia said journalists will not be allowed to enter schools freely and cover issues there.

In addition, only the CS and PS are authorized to address the media and therefore field officers including County Directors, SubCounty Directors, Principals, and HeadTeachers will not address the media.

Schools reopening

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha asked journalists to report on all aspects regarding the full resumption of learning in Educational institutions in ways that will help learners to settle down with hope.

This comes in the backdrop of challenges facing learners reported by the media on the reopening of schools.

Teachers said it will be difficult to maintain physical distance, as most schools do not have enough classrooms to spread out the students.
