  • Savula claims he cannot betray Mudavadi as they are of the same family.
  • He has vowed to support Mudavadi in 2022

Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula has claimed that he was offered Sh17 million to overthrow Musalia Mudavadi as Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader.

Savula made the revelation while attending the requiem mass of Mama Hannah Mudavadi on January 7, 2021.

He stated that the offer was made to him when the ANC party was experiencing internal party wrangles.

The bribe was made at a time he was burying his father and asked to oust Mudavadi.

"When I was burying my father, someone landed in my compound with a chopper with 17 million daring me to go and overthrow Musali Mudavadi as my Party leader," Savula said.

"I said no. I am the son of a pastor, this is the family that raised me," he added.

The incident happened when the NASA coalition was experiencing wrangles that saw even Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula fear for his role as the party's leader.

In his speech, Savula termed the ANC Leader's family as his own, revealing that the former vice president had put him through school.

"I am grateful to the family of the late Moses Mudamba Mudavadi through Mama Hanna Mudavadi. Musalia Mudavadi educated me. He paid my entire school fees when I was a student at the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC). He also paid school fees for Honourable Osotsi. Those are facts. We are products of Mama Hannah," Savula remarked.

Savula added that he would support Musalia's bid for the presidency in 2022.
