A Nairobi Court has barred IEBC and the EACC from commenting on former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s bid for Nairobi governorship.

Through his lawyer, Waititu told the court that the two agencies have been commenting on his eligibility to vie for the post in public, yet the matter is yet to be determined by the court.

Following Waititu’s submission, Justice Antony Mrima has directed that parties involved should not discuss the matter outside court till it has heard and determined.

"I direct the lawyers in this matter to advise their clients to respect doctrine of subjudice,” he directed.

The next mention for the case has been set for February 1, 2020.

Meanwhile, Waititu on Wednesday received a major boost in his bid to become the next Nairobi Governor after IEBC gazetted him among 12 independent candidates in the race to the top county job.

Waititu has been gazette alongside other independent candidates that include; Dr Noah Winja, Otieno Aloys Lavern, Mukundi Mathenge, Munyanya Yassin, Olingo Timothy Ayieko, Njuru Phyllis Wangari, Ogwang Raymond Ndungu, Kiigi Evans Machoka, Lengala David William and Hassan Jimal Ibrahim.

In the same notice, IEBC divulged that five candidates namely; Dennis Waweru, Agnes Kagure, Betty Adhiambo, Alex Kipchirchir and Habib Omar are set to contest for the Jubilee party ticket.
