An investigation into the brutal murder of four family members in Kiambu took a vital twist after police arrested the couple’s son.

In a statement, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said that the son, Lawrence Njoroge is the prime suspect in the murder.

The DCI further revealed that a search for the weapons is ongoing after Njoroge was arrested at his girlfriend's house in Kabete.

DCI's statement read; "Detectives have arrested 22-Year-Old Lawrence Simon Warunge, being the prime suspect in the monstrous killing of 5 people in Kiambu a few days ago. The suspect, who happens to be the eldest son in the family and a student at a private university was nabbed at his hideout in Lower Kabete, Kiambu County.

"Also arrested to assist our officers with investigations is a lady believed to be his girlfriend, who sells goods at Biafra in Thika.

Search for the murder weapons is currently ongoing, with @DCI_Kenya Homicide detectives leading in unravelling the mystery."

The five family members were brutally murdered by unknown assailants at their home in Kagongo Karura village in Kiambaa.

The killers raided the home of Njoroge Warunge and hacked him to death before turning their weapons on the wife, his two children and nephew.
