Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI) have arrested a Nigerian national, in connection with the gruesome killing of a lawyer identified as Elizabeth Koki.

According to a statement by the DCI, Christian Mwambay Kadima had been on the run since Friday morning.

He was nabbed at city lodging at around midnight.

"Detectives have finally arrested Christian Mwambay Kadima, who has been on the run since the wee hours of the morning, following the gruesome murder of a prominent city lawyer. Our boys who have been hot on his trail, have some minutes ago smoked him out of his hideout," read the DCI statement.

The sleuths said on Friday evening that the suspect who bears a Nigerian passport was spotted leaving the victim's house in Syokimau, Machakos County on Thursday night

The slain lawyer Elizabeth Koki is said to have been living with the suspect in Syokimau, Machakos County.

Detectives said the suspect was seen leaving Ms Koki's home before her lifeless body was found the following morning.

Ms Koki's domestic worker found her boss in the bedroom with blood stains and bruises on her body and notified the police.

The DCI further thanked citizens who gave police the information that led to the suspect's arrest.
