Veteran KANU politician Zablon Owigo Olang’ is dead.

Olang died on Sunday, January 11, 2021, before noon at a hospital in Nyatike, Migori County.

Reports indicated that the former Ndhiwa MP had been receiving treatment at St Carmilla’s Hospital in Karundu.

Olang’ was elected Ndhiwa MP under KANU and served between 1979 and 1984 before the constituency was divided to form Nyatike Constituency.

The deceased served as a one-term Assistant Minister for Constitutional and Justice Affairs between 1979 and 1983.

In 2003, former President Mwai Kibaki appointed Mr Olang’ as Board Chairman of The Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA).

Migori Governor Okoth Obado led other leaders to mourn Mr Olang' describing him as a mentor in political circles and a leader who contributed to the development of the county.
