Former Laikipia East lawmaker Anthony Mutahi Kimaru has been charged with stealing a title deed of a parcel of land valued at Sh18.5million.

Kimaru allegedly committed the offence back in August 2016.

The offence was reportedly committed at the Ministry of Lands offices in Nairobi.

According to court documents, Kimaru is accused of stealing the title deed of parcel LR. 10422/13 in Nanyuki township belonging George Odinga and David Mortons Silverstein; the executors of the late Livia Lepoer Trench.

In addition to the first charge, he is also accused of making an agreement of sale for the same parcel of land while claiming to be the genuine owner.

While appearing before Milimani chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku, the former legislator denied all the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh300, 000 or a bond of a Sh1 million.

The case is set for mention on January 28, 2020.
