Ahmednasir has demanded that the acting Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu should issue a statement addressing the issue, specifically the provision of the Judge who inaugurated Ms Mwenda. 

Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdulahi has termed as fraudulent the rushed inauguration of Anne Mwenda as new Nairobi Deputy Governor.

On Friday, a High Court cleared Mwenda for vetting and by 2pm the same day, she had been vetted and sworn-in.

Reacting to the rushed process, Ahmednasir demanded that the acting Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu should issue a statement addressing the issue, specifically the provision of the Judge who inaugurated Ms Mwenda.

“The Acting CJ Lady Justice P Mwilu needs to explain urgently the shenanigans surrounding the fraudulent stage managed swearing of Anne Kananu. Who was behind this judicial scam? The office of the DCJ or the office of the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary?

“If the Acting CJ wasn't aware of the swearing of Anne Kananu who then authorised the judge who conducted the swearing in ceremony? Did the judge satisfy himself that the acting CJ authorised the ceremony he conducted? Do we now have pro and anti-handshake judges in the judiciary? He tweeted.

His point of view was echoed by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who noted that “On the matter of Nairobi County, I was sure that the National Gov’t would do anything. For them the Constitution is a document of general guidance to be ignored if it’s compliance leads to inconvenience. What shocked me is the High Court decision and the swift facilitation of Judiciary.”
