The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) will have two terminals closed to pave way for renovation.

A statement issued on Saturday, January 16, 2021, by Kenya Airport Authority (KAA) indicated that Terminal 1B and Terminal 1C would be unavailable to flight operators and their passengers.

"JKIA's TERMINAL 1B & TERMINAL 1C closed to pave way for renovation works to upgrade the airport and improve on passenger experience," the KAA statement read in part.

"All flight operations previously in T1B and T1C have now been migrated to TERMINAL 1A and TERMINAL 2," it continued.

Cost and effectiveness

KAA guaranteed that is was working closely with all its partner airlines and other stakeholders at JKIA to provide a seamless travel experience to passengers.

The refurbishment exercise is expected to take 12 months at a cost of Ksh963 million.

The terminals when completed will have improved check-in, security screening, retail operations as well as lounge experience for departing passengers.
