Mudavadi: I take this early opportunity to congratulate President Yoweri Museveni upon his victory and re- election. I wish the people of Uganda continued prosperity as he embarks on his fresh mandate

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has come under harsh criticism after he sent a congratulation message to Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni following his controversial re-election.

In a tweet, Mudavadi hailed Museveni for the win and wished Ugandans well.

“I take this early opportunity to congratulate President Yoweri Museveni upon his victory and re- election. I wish the people of Uganda continued prosperity as he embarks on his fresh mandate,” he tweeted.

The tweet did not augur well with a section of netizens who accused him of supporting a dictator.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s Electoral body earlier today declared incumbent Yoweri Museveni as President-Elect of the Republic of Uganda.

Museveni won with 58.64% against Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine's 34.83%.

He will now lead Uganda until 2026 which will mark his 40th year as President of the East African country.

Here are some reactions from Mudavadi’s congratulatory message:
