Addressing the issue, ODM chairman John Mbadi said it is not the first time some leaders have attempted to challenge Odinga, noting that the alleged ouster will flop.

A section of Luo leaders from the South Nyanza region are reportedly plotting to oust former Prime Minister Raila Odinga as the political kingpin of the region.

Reports on Sunday Nation indicate that the alleged ouster is being spearheaded by Migori Governor Okoth Obado, former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno, former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, and a section of current and former legislators.

Governor Obado has reportedly been meeting leaders from the region with an aim of creating a political outfit to challenge ODM in the 2022 general elections.

However, speaking to the publication, Dr. Kidero has distanced himself from the claims stating that he is a life member of the ODM party.

“I’m an ODM life member number 1293. There has never been any meeting between me and any of those people and is I remember very well the last time I saw Dalmas was five-or-so years ago… Obado is my friend but we’ve not met,” Kidero told the local daily.

Addressing the issue, ODM chairman John Mbadi said it is not the first time some leaders have attempted to challenge Odinga, noting that the alleged ouster will flop.

“This is not the first time we’ve had some leaders from Nyanza region make these attempts. Between 2013 and 2017 there were such attempts that choreographed a fake narrative that Raila had impoverished Nyanza… Culturally, Luos will never have two centres of power. That is not tenable. Our undisputed leader is Raila Odinga,” Mbadi said.
