Panic has engulfed Otamba village in Kisii County after unknown assailants torched five churches over the last 4 days.

The first church to be torched down was St Monica. The incident happened on January 20, 2021.

Later that day, three other churches were burnt down, with the latest being a Pentecostal church that was attacked on January 24, 2021.


According to media reports, after they attack a church, the arsonists always leave behind on amateur drawing of what appears to be two persons and a cross.

Residents have expressed fear that once the arsonists are done with the churches, they could start torching down their homes.

Meanwhile, security agencies are currently investigating the incident with an aim of bringing the perpetrators to book.
