  • ODM leader Raila Odinga challenged the DP William Ruto to demonstrate his track record while serving in government.
  • He called out the DP for making promises on the campaign trail that have not been met 8 years later.

ODM leader Raila Odinga went ham on Deputy President William Ruto over their campaign promises to the country.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party on Tuesday hosted student leaders from various institutions in the country.

Mr. Odinga was the key speaker during the forum where he blasted DP Ruto asking him to show the achievements he had promised Kenyans on the campaign trail.

He pointed out that the DP had promised the Kenyan youth 1 million jobs every year but the country is grappling with high unemployment rates.

Unfulfilled Pledges

"You said you were going to create 1 million jobs every year now it's 8 years that should be 8 million jobs. The rate of unemployment has gone up from where we left it in the grand coalition government," Mr. Odinga said.

"Mr. Six months! In 2013 our youth, university graduates and diploma holders riding Boda Bodas were assured that after six months you would deliver a “knowledge-based -technology-driven economy. 8 years later you're telling them to replace a digital economy with wheelbarrows," he continued.

Odinga challenged the Deputy President to demonstrate his track record while serving in government.

He slammed Ruto, saying he made many promises to Kenyans in the 2013 and 2017 election campaigns, yet many of those pledges have not been implemented pointing out that the DP had promised the youth new training facilities in each county to boost sports.
