Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has vowed to honour summons by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to appear before it on Monday next week.
According to Sonko, he is shocked that the DCI has summoned him “for speaking the truth”.
Sonko is required to record a statement following remarks he made against Kibicho on Sunday.
The ex-Governor alleged that he and Kibicho were used by the deep state to disrupt ODM protests and cause chaos.
In a rejoinder, Interior PS Kibicho recorded a statement at the DCI headquarters on Monday following the allegations where he vowed to go after Sonko.

“I am not at DCI as PS Interior, but as Karanja Kibicho, and Sonko shall give me answers if there’s law in this country. He must prove all the allegations he has accused me of. He better prepare some good lawyers because he has admitted to crime, and after he has dealt with that, he will have to deal with my character assassination case.
Following Kibicho’s statement, DCI moved to summon Sonko.

As anticipated, yesterday I received a summon to appear before the DCI over the facts I hold against Interior PS Karanja Kibicho and the role he played in financing violence and disorder before, during and after the 2017 general elections.
However, I find it laughable that police consider speaking the truth as an offence of undermining the authority of a public officer. How ridiculous!
It is also absurd that they consider what I said as amounting to incitement to violence.
When did speaking the truth become an offence? And when did public officers become immune to accountability to the people?
Kenya is NOT a police state as we live in a democratic country, and nobody in Kenya is above the law, regardless of the office they hold.
As a law abiding citizen, I will be honouring the summons and will be looking forward to telling the world the truth about the so-called system and deep state.
