Detectives on Friday arrested a man who is suspected to have killed his eight-year-old son by pouring boiling water on him.  

The suspect, Madangure Chelonges, was nabbed by detectives at Sigor, West Pokot County.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the incident transpired on January 17, 2020. 

"Madangure Chelonges was reported to have savagely dealt with the boy over an unestablished issue on January 17, where the latter later succumbed to the severe burns at a local hospital," part of the statement by DCI read. 

The suspect will remain in custody before arraignment as investigations continue. 

At the same time, detectives based in Makueni are pursuing a 31-year-old man suspected to have defiled and impregnated a school-going, child. 

An update by DCI indicates that a 13-year-old pupil at Kathonzweni Holy Ghost Mission Primary had complained of abdominal pain, forcing the school's administration to call upon the mother to take her to hospital.

Examination on her condition revealed that she was expectant, thereafter disclosing to have been defiled by the suspect; Reuben Mutie of Kwa Kavisi location, who has since run into hiding.
