Ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been set free by a Kiambu court.

Ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has been set free by a Kiambu court after leading not guilty to assault charges.

The court freed Sonko on a Sh300,000 bond with surety of a similar amount.

While making the ruling, ,the court noted that the prosecution failed to convince it on why Sonko should be denied bail in the case.

In as much as Sonko has been released by the Kiambu Court, he is not a free man yet as he still has other charges to answer to in a separate court.

The ex-Nairobi governor is expected to be presented at the Kahawa Law Courts to answer to charges relating to terror planning and financing.

Meanwhile Sonko had to be rushed to hospital a few hours before his court hearing after he complained of stomach complications.

He was admitted at Nairobi hospital and received treatment before being ferried to court earlier today. In court, he accompanied by a standby nurse.

His lawyers have filed a petition seeking to have him taken to hospital for treatment before being arraigned at the Kahawa Law Courts.
