Public Service Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rachael Shebesh has dismissed claims that she was let loose in the latest government reorganization by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking on Thursday, Shebesh noted that she previously served as CAS for Public Service and Gender, but with the appointment of Linah Jebii Kilimo to the gender docket, she will now focus fully on Public Service.

Shebesh further noted that Kilimo is highly qualified, adding that she is an asset to the gender docket.

"I was handling both Public service and Gender dockets in the Ministry. With the new changes, I will be in charge of Public Service and Linah Jebii will take on the Gender docket," she explained.

"We are harnessing all our energies to ensure the government succeeds in achieving in its set agenda," she added.

The transfer of Kilimo from Livestock and Fisheries to Gender elicited massive reactions with many claiming that Shebesh had been fired.

While announcing the government reorganization, the Head of State noted that they were meant to improve efficiency in service delivery.

“The presidential action seeks to foster operational efficiency, institutionalise and expedite the implementation of various ground-breaking reforms, and introduce functional changes that shall make ministries and State departments more effective and able to deliver on their mandates,” a statement from the Executive Office of the President read in part.
