The Law Society of Kenya has issued a 3-day ultimatum to the police to find Nairobi lawyer Benson Njau Kayai who has been missing for three weeks now.

The LSK has urged the police to double up its efforts and find Kayai, failure to which the association has vowed to take unspecified action.

In a statement, LSK Secretary Mercy Wambua urged anyone with relevant information to contact the nearby police station.

“As the professional body tasked with ensuring the welfare of our members, we note with grave concern the extensive delay in the conclusion of an investigation into the disappearance of our member,” Wambua said.

Kayai’s disappearance was reported on February 7, with reports indicating that the lawyer was abducted along Muhoho Avenue in South C, Nairobi.

Witnesses claim his vehicle was blocked by unknown persons, who later moved him to one of the vehicles they had.

The eyewitnesses further noted that the lawyer did not show any form of resistance, creating a notion that he was being arrested by police who had been chasing him.

At the time of the incident, he was reportedly driving a hired saloon car.

Kayai is a renowned lawyer in the city. His legal area of expertise included; family, property, and commercial law among others.
