A man who was facing murder charges for stabbing his ex-girlfriend has been freed by the courts.

On Thursday, February 25 2021, the court freed Alfred Ndarera Nyakwaka after his ex-girlfriend Jane Mutheu forgave him.

Nyakwaka was charged with attempted murder after stabbing Mutheu at her house in Pipeline Estate in Embakasi on January 28.

The court had Nyakwaka allegedly stabbed Mutheu on the head, shoulder, and hands leaving her for dead.

Nyakwaka reportedly visited Mutheu at 3 am on the said day and stabbed her. The prosecution said the suspect called people in Mutheu's contacts telling them he was killing her.

They had locked the door from inside and members of the public who responded to Mutheu's cries could not rescue her.

But on Thursday, Mutheu told the court that she had forgiven her ex-boyfriend which set him free.

The State opposed the withdrawal of the case against Nyakwaka but Nyaga said it was not fruitful to continue the trial after the complainant forgave the suspect.

The duo signed an agreement before the court that they had reconciled and agreed to end the trial.
