The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has extended the deadline for submitting applications for potential presidential candidates.

The deadline has been extended from 26th February to 31st March 2021.

The extension was confirmed by party National Elections Board (NEB) chairperson Catherine Muyeka Mumma. She notes all interested candidates will stick to the previous guidelines.

"Further to the notice of the National Elections Board (NEB) of 21st January 2021 calling for the submission of applications by individuals interested in consideration as the ODM Party presidential candidate for the 2022 general elections, this is to extend the deadline for the submission of applications from 26% of February 2021 to 31″ March 2021," She said.

Interested candidates can get the application forms from the party headquarters or download them from the party's website.

The party is yet to disclose the number of people who have submitted their candidature for the next year's general polls. However, Mombasa governor Hassan Joho is on record stating that he has submitted his application.

This comes barely a week after the party announced that anyone wishing to vie for any position on the party ticket in 2022 polls has up to August this year to register as a life member.

In January, ODM asked interested parties to deposit a non-refundable Sh1 million to participate in the nominations.
