The COVID-19 vaccine advisory taskforce Chairman Dr. Willis Akhwale has disclosed that the first batch of Covid-19 will arrive in Kenya on Tuesday.
Speaking during an interview on Sunday, Dr. Willis added that the vaccine will be voluntary and no one will be coerced to take it against his will.
"Vaccination will be voluntary; no one will be coerced to it. There are limited doses, in the latest estimation, it is said Kenya has reserved 3.5 Million from February going into May.
"We expect to receive 1 million vaccination doses on Tuesday 5 minutes past Wednesday. doses 5 minutes past midnight and priority is given to all health workers & those working in health facilities, security forces & teachers," he stated.

Dr. Willis mentioned that there will be an observation period to see if there are any side effects.
"Govt. & Ministry of health has put systems in place; After vaccination, there will be observation to see if there will be severe side effects. Application forms will also ask for next of kin contacts
"The vaccine will be a double dose & the second dose will be taken 8 weeks after the first. Frontline workers will not be charged during phase 1. After, the charge of the vaccine could be as low as Ksh. 200," the Covid-19 advisory chairman explained.
Dr. Willis noted that if you have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last four months, you will not be vaccinated at the time.
"If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 4 months, you will be vaccinated in the 5th or 6th month. You will need to be vaccinated as you are not immune but not immediately. Fever will lead to later vaccine," he stated.
