  • Isaac Ruto said he was irked by the decision to isolate DP Ruto from the handshake arrangement.

Early this year, Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) Party Leader Isaac Ruto surprised many when he ditched the handshake team led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, for the Hustlers’ brigade headed by Deputy President William Ruto.

While making the switch, the former Bomet Governor noted that he shared the same ideologies with Ruto, and was keen on empowering the local mwananchi.

He, however, failed to explain the sudden change of heart, considering that he had held a meeting with President Kenyatta at State House and pledged his support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

Speaking at a function in Chesoen, Bomet Central the CCM party leader finally revealed why he ditched the handshake team, noting that he was irked by the decision to isolate DP Ruto from the arrangement.

According to him, having being isolated and being a target of consistent attacks, DP Ruto needed an ally and he offered himself.

The former Bomet Governor vowed to work with the DP and form a formidable force to rival the handshake team.

“When I saw my brother (DP Ruto) had been left out and subjected to tribulations by the Jubilee administration including Odinga whom I had supported, we chose to unite to rival them,” Ruto stated.

Meanwhile, DP Ruto is keen to solidify his strongholds ahead of the 2022 general election and has been making peace with his perceived critics. He has so far managed to woo Emurua Dikirr Legislator Johanna Ngeno, Isaac Ruto among others.
