Karatina Ward MCA Watson Weru is hospitalised after his car was involved in a crash.

The Tuesday night accident occurred along the Sagana-Nyeri highway.

A report from his doctors indicated that the Ward Rep is in stable condition.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes that road accident injuries account for more than 1.3 million fatalities around the world more than the number of people who succumb to HIV/AIDS.

NTSA Report

The report further indicated that the death rate from road accidents in low- and middle-income countries is more than thrice that of high-income countries.

NTSA estimates that 3,000 Kenyans die from road accidents every year with a majority of the victims being men.

Data from NTSA further showed that many of the accidents occur over the weekends, with the hours 5 PM-8 AM recording the most fatal crashes.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), the accidents are from an account of binge drinking and reckless driving.
