Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor Wesley Kipyegon was arrested.

According to reports, police nabbed the deputy county boss on suspicion of obtaining money by false pretence on Thursday, March 4.

Rotich was arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and taken to their offices in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen tweeted claiming that the Governor was not arrested only because of a bounced cheque but his stand on BBI.

"Elgeyo Marakwet Deputy Governor was today arrested by DCI&charged ostensibly because of bounced Cheque but in reality because of his stand on BBI&firm support for the hustler nation especially a recent well-organized visit by the DP.His accuser is a desperate loser. We’re unbowed," Murkomen tweeted.

The Deputy Governor has been freed on Ksh.50,000 cash bail after denying fraud charges.
