President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga's team have been forced to come up with new ways of popularising the BBI bill.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga's men have been forced to come up with new ways of sensitising the public on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

This comes after the Head of State slammed the breaks on political and capped social gatherings in the country at 100 attendees as a mitigation measure against the spread of Covid-19.

The ban spelled doom for the BBI train, however, the pro-BBI leaders have been forced to engineer new ways of getting their agenda to members of the public.

BBI secretariat and Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohammed revealed that they will identify leaders to go to all vernacular radio stations to sensitise people on the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020.

“We are going to use radio and other electronic media and we shall review with the Ministry of Health protocols,” Junet stated.

BBI Secretariat Co-Chairperson Dennis Waweru yesterday stated that the team had to restrategise following the new developments.

“Part of our new strategy following the ban of political rallies is to use the mass media to communicate to Kenyans. We will involve the political figures in these campaigns but they have to be coordinated by the secretariat,” Waweru stated.President Kenyatta also dispatched cabinet secretaries to launch various projects across the country, a move that will most likely see the leaders use the platform to engage the public on matters BBI.

“Cabinet Secretaries, in their capacity as members of the National Development Implementation Communication Cabinet Committee, will visit National Government funded projects from Tuesday, March 16 to Friday, March 19,” a press invite from Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government President’s Delivery Unit reads in part.

“The objective of the visits is to assess progress of the projects and to acquaint themselves with challenges affecting the effective implementation of some of the projects with a view to recommend/implement appropriate solutions,” it reads.
