Wiper-Kenya Party candidate Agnes Kavindu Muthama will be the next Machakos Senator after a landslide win the by-election.

Wiper-Kenya candidate Agnes Kavindu is the winner of the Machakos Senatorial by-elections that was held on March 18, 2021.

Results shown by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission revealed that Kavindu won by garnering 164,352 votes.

UDA's Urbanus Ngengele was second with 19,726 votes.


The results are from all polling stations.

Kavindu is the new Machakos Senator following the landslide win.

Kitheka Simeon Kioko is third with 1,476 votes. Other names on the ballot included; Katuku John Mutua, Musingi John Kioko, Mwanza Lily Nduku, Nthenge Otho Edward Musembi, Munyambu Francis Musembi, Mweu Jonathan Makenzi, Nthama Sebastian Nzau, and Muindi Stanley Masai.

19.48 per cent of the registered voters turned up for the exercise. 

130,617 valid votes were cast in the by-election from the total 623,536 registered voters in the county.

1,323 votes were rejected.

Leaders from across the country have joined in on congratulating Kavindu for the win.
