Nakuru County Chief Officer for Public Health Samuel King’ori has succumbed to Covid-19.

Governor Lee Kinyanjui confirmed the death of the senior official. Mr King'ori was receiving treatment in the hospital.

“He was instrumental in laying our healthcare strategy plan that resulted in the upgrade of service delivery and infrastructure. He was very passionate for results and took great pride in a better Nakuru,” Governor Kinyanjui said.

Governor Kinyajui said Mr Kingori was a general in the fight against COVID-19 who mobilised trained and coordinated public health workers as well as vulnerable groups across the county with amazing outcomes on all fronts.

Kenya's Covid

The Ministry of Health in a statement on Sunday announced 747 new COVID-19 infections, tested from a sample size of 5,145 in the last 24 hours.

MoH said 7 of those deaths occurred in the last 48 hours while 10 are late death reports from facility record audits done on diverse dates.

Kenya’s total COVID-19 death toll hit 2,011 after 17 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
