At least three people have been reported dead and several others injured after a bus they were travelling in hit an IED along the Mandera-Arabia Road.
The bus was heading to Mandera town from Lafey constituency on Wednesday morning.
Mandera Governor Ali Roba has confirmed the accident and fatalities reported so far.
The injured have been taken to the Mandera County Referral Hospital for treatment.

According to the police, the number of causalities could increase.
Judging by the photos online, the IED impact on the bus was massive as it has been destroyed badly.
The accident comes a few days after Kenyan security forces repulsed an attempt by al-Shabaab militants in Lafey.
It is suspected that the team repulsed by police is behind the bus attack.
Security has been heightened in the area as Kenyan forces remain on high alert amid claims that there are plans of attacking the area.
