Deputy President William Ruto has hit out at the Daily Nation over their lead story in today’s newspaper titled ‘Storm in Cabinet, Ruto told to quit’.

In a tweet, he laughed off the headline, adding that his supporters should use the newspaper to wrap meat.

“Cabinet Secretaries challenging who?? To do what???  Hii itumiwe kufunga matumbo na mara!!!!” he posted.


From the newspaper page shared by the DP, it is not clear what the entire Nation story is about, but judging by the headline, speculation is that it is based on Thursday’s Cabinet meeting which was also attended by the DP.

Cabinet Meeting Resolution

According to a statement shared by the Office of the President, The Cabinet meeting discussed several issues including rising tension in the country and resolved to form a multi-agency team in-charge of maintain public order.

“This fast-evolving situation threatens to derail the delivery of the Administration’s transformative agenda for the Country; as well as jeopardize Kenya’s image and place within the community of nations, which has been recently uplifted by Kenya’s membership of the United Nations Security Council as a non-permanent member. 

“To institutionalize the prescriptions and directives issued by the NSAC, Cabinet approved the establishment and immediate operationalization of a Multi –Agency Team on Public Order,” the statement read in part.
