Longserving State House Comptroller Abraham Kiptanui under the President Daniel arap Moi era has passed on.

Kiptanui passed on while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital on the morning of Sunday, April 4, 2021.

The former State House aide had been admitted at the hospital for the past two weeks.

Kiptanui served at the powerful role during Moi's tenure up until his retirement in 1996. He was succeeded by Franklin Bett.

He was described as a person with experience and expertise in governance.

A State House Comptroller is a person responsible for supervising the quality of finances and accounting of any organisation. He acts as the head of accounting and oversees all financial reports such as balance sheets.
