World Record Holder Eliud Kipchoge has sold photographs taken during the INEOS 1:59 challenge in Vienna, Austria for Ksh3 million.
Kipchoge sold the images in form of Non-Fungible Token (NFTs) in an auction that closed on April 8, 2021.
According to the Economic Times, NFTs are a class of cryptocurrency assets in which each item, or token, is entirely unique. This makes them useless as a currency, but quite useful for other things—such as crypto art.
This makes it impossible to counterfeit or steal, thus the winner of the auction will be the only owner of the moment.

The auction happened on OpenSea, which is the largest NFTs market . The event was co-sponsored by Momentible, a platform for musicians and athletes to immortalize legendary and iconic moments of their careers in the form of an NFT.
A high-quality artwork of the moment and a personal video message from Kipchoge will be presented to the winner.
The marathoner had on April 3, 2021, announced that he would be selling a highlight from his career.
“In my career, I have always been interested in technology and therefore it fits me well to present my special sports memories on the blockchain. I trust that it will help someone around the world to get these positive memories as it has done for me,” Kipchoge said on Momentible.
On October 12, 2019 Kipchoge became the first man to ever run the 42 kilometre marathon for under two hours.
Kipchoge joins a host of world celebrities who have sold their images in form of NFTs.
Some of them include; Jack Dorsey, Billionaire and Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, musician Shawn Mendes and NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski.
